Free Medical Office Skills Certificate Training Launched
Sources Community Resources Society, in partnership with Vancouver Community College (VCC), offers Office Administration: Medical Office Skills Certificate training to eligible British Columbia residents.
Vocational Training
This 22-week, tuition-free training program is designed to equip students with the skills, knowledge and experience required to work as a Medical Office Assistant, Medical Secretary, Medical Billing Clerk, Medical Receptionist and related administrative positions in medical clinics/facilities. In addition to vocational training and on-the-job work experience, participants will receive personalized and customized wrap-around employment support services to maximize their potential for success.
Admission Requirements
18 years of age or older
B.C. secondary school graduation, or equivalent
Basic computer and keyboarding skills

Business English Skills: Grammar Review, Building Powerful Vocabulary, Memo, Email and Report Writing and Business English Skills Exam
Supervisory Management and Decision-Making Skills
Keyboarding for Beginners and for Speed Building
Medical Terminology 1 & 2
Medical Office Procedures
Medical Office Billing
Medical Document Transcription
Clinical Procedures Workplace Readiness Skills
Work Experience
First Aid Level C CPR and AED
Eligibility Criteria
Participants must be:
At least 18 years old and have a Social Insurance Number (SIN)
Reside in BC
Canadian Citizens; or Permanent Residents; or Protected persons entitled to work in Canada
Unemployed, employed (part-time 30 hours or less/week, seasonal or casual) or precariously employed and seeking training to find a new job, prepare for changing job requirements or new job opportunities in the community
Priority will be given to the following client groups:
Mature workers (55+)
Indigenous peoples
Immigrants (Landed within 10 years)
Refugees and protected persons
People of colour
Persons with disabilities
